Training
Maytree facilitate a comprehensive and engaging training programme in Suicide Awareness.
Our Suicide Awareness training has two levels:
- Level one is for learners with little to intermediate understanding of suicide.
- Level two is for learners with a broad knowledge and / or understanding of suicide.
- Level One
- Level Two
The Level one
The Level one training is geared towards professionals who wish to develop their understanding of suicide or want to learn how to safeguard, identify risk and engage confidently with individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts and feelings. The outcomes for the training are:
- To raise awareness of the needs of suicidal people
- To raise awareness of ways to improve the mental health of suicidal people
- To explore the link between Mental Health and individuals with additional needs
- To learn how to engage with individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts and feeling: Using the Maytree ethos
- To develop a deeper understanding of Maytree and our referral process.
Level two
The Level two training is geared towards professionals with good suicide awareness skills/knowledge and this allows learners to explore factors that affect individuals experiencing mental health and suicidal ideation. This training allows learners to understand the mental health continuum and the impact that suicide has on the community. The level two looks to encourage professionals to challenge their own practices to develop confidence and an in-depth understanding of intersectionality and person centred care. The course covers topics including:
- Facts and Statistics: Suicide, self-harm, stigma and discrimination, depression, psychosis and prevalence and impact of mental ill health in the UK
- Mental Health continuum
- Sources of stress: Physical, emotional, acute life events and chronic stress / Stress container
